Krista Martin

I would like to take a moment to tell you about Krista Martin. I first became aware of her case by coming across another podcaster TikTok I’ll link her below. Her name is MarryAnne and not only is she the host of the Social Detective podcast but grew up next door to Krista and has been fighting to raise her voice and get her justice.

Mary Anne told 12 News that she remembers Krista as being caring kind artistic and a cat lover. Especially Siamese cats. Despite Mary Anne being more of a dog person they had a friendship growing up together. When Mary Anne was 18 she moved away and lost touch with Krista and about 2 years later would discovered Krista had been murdered in her apartment in Wichita KS

Krista born March 20th, 1969 was said to be shy quiet and often kept to herself. In September of 1989 Krista now 20 had been recently laid off from her job at the Kansas Blueprint.

Krista would be last seen on the afternoon of October 1st, 1989. A friend of Krista would become concerned about Krista the following day the 2nd, and decided to visit her and check on her. That’s when her friend discovered that Krista had been murdered.

Krista was found fully clothed lying on the couch, with no signs of forced entry into her apartment, and no signs of burglary. This friend was investigated and ruled out as a suspect.

An autopsy would determine that Krista died, from a blunt force trauma to the back, left side of her head, with some kind of blunt object which investigators never found at Krista’s apartment and do not know to this day what that object was.

The weekend before Krista’s death police were called about a fight at Krista’s apartment. Krista’s neighbor Beverly would say she remembers hearing screaming around 3-4 a.m. and looking out her widow that faced Krista’s apartment to see two men. She heard one say to the other “Why did you hit her? And the other man responded “Because she’s a woman and deserved it”

Now 34 years later Krista’s case is still unsolved! Investigators are looking for new leads and a huge way to help them with that is to keep Krista’s name in the public eye. Sadly Krista’s case has not had much media coverage. So please share Krista’s story in whatever format you are comfortable with to include word of mouth.
